Kerenskey's Encounter

           Dawn. Kerenskey awoke to the sound of shooting all around him, and in moments, he was awake, and on his feet. This didn't last long, however, as a wave of overbearing common sense hit him, and he dropped to the ground, back into his trench, to avoid being a target.
           For the past three standard months, an Ork invasion had ravaged through the Partha System, taking large and valuable industrial worlds with it. Billions were killed or injured, and countless millions had been taken as slaves. Now, the invasion was upon the last world in the system, and the chances for it's survival were slim. It was rumored that this invasion was different from the mindless, brutal, but predictable Ork invasions that so many worlds had become nearly accustomed to. Lightning raids, brilliant battlefield tactics, and unpredictable attacks had become the threat of this WAAAGH!.
           The Orks were advancing at a disturbing speed, and Kerenskey watched from his trench at the top of the hill, as the squads in front of his own fell to huge wave of green-skinned abominations, as his own unit fired their lasguns into the fray. It seemed almost futile; they had no hope of inflicting even minimal casualties upon this massive horde. And where was their blasted support?
           Before the thought could fully get through, he heard a tremendous explosion in the background, and whipped around to see what was the cause, and it seemed as if the whole Planetary Defense Line stopped fighting to see the horrendous turn of events that had transpired. Their tanks, the only hope against this attack, had been destroyed by well-hidden Orks, who had wrecked havoc upon the men's only salvation. The rumors were true. Now Kerenskey truly knew fear. It barely even registered when Jones and Stiles, two of his own squad members, were cut down by searing shrapnel from the blast.
           He watched in horror as even the fearless Commisarr Ramanov was cut down by a brutal band of Greenskins, as was the rest of the squad. Colonel Timmons had already fallen, his body now being trampled by thousands of red-eyed, bloodthirsty brutes. And now the Orks were advancing upon them. Kerenskey was paralyzed in fear as the Greenskins advanced upon his own trench, cutting down his fellow Guardsmen. These were even larger than the normal Orks who dominated the battlefield. One, in particular, caught his eye. Even among the blood and death, Kerenskey watched, petrified, as this one advanced directly towards him. It was larger than the others of his group, and carried in it's right arm a firearm that looked heavy for even an average Greenskin. Instead of a left arm, a huge powered limb tore into his squad, rending his fellows apart with almost contemptuous ease. The top of the its skull was a large, metallic helmet-like covering, which ended at it's nose-bone. And now it was almost upon him.
           Kerenskey couldn't even scream as the Ork lifted him upsidedown by his leg, and he came face-to-face with this monster. He fully expected his life to end that moment.
           "Go."
           Kerenskey went wide-eyed, and stared at this thing that had just spoken to him.
           Spoken? It had. And not in the incomprehensible growlings that were the Ork Tongue. Even through the guttural throat of an Ork, the Emperor's Gothic was as clear as day. The world ceased to move, or even make sense, as the only thing that registered in his mind was this gigantic being, speaking to him in what almost sounded like a refined tone.
           "Go now," the Ork said, "and tell your Emperor that I am coming. And when I arrive, his reign will be ended. Not by the traitorous Marines that still haunt him. Not by the aliens that even now threaten to devour the galaxy. Not even by the Eldar, who are so like you. No. I will end his reign. An Ork. The simple creature who was once thought of as only a pest."
           With that, Kerenskey was dropped back into his trench, cowering and shaking with fear. He only vaguely noticed as the Greenskins ran around, or even jumped over his hiding place, ignoring him completely among the lifeless bodies of his squadmates. The world ceased to exist as a real place, and the sounds of battle all around him were distant and vague. He could only remember a part of what the Ork had said to him, as he held him there in what seemed like time and space stopping;
           "Go now, and tell your Emperor that I am coming. I will end his reign"

      End.
