THOUGHT: The Emperor needs to replace his IBM 370s
My lord, it has come to my attention that as we approach the turn of the millenium, our technology will become unstable. Through much research we have determined that it is the work of the traitor legions.
Over ten thousand years ago, Warmaster Horus was in charge of team programming the new imperial data system. After his turn, a daemon was let loose, which has lain dormant for one hundred centuries. When it awakens, we will face a terror never before conceived by man.
Astropathic mail systems will fail, as their brains struggle to sync to a date that does not exist. Space marine drop pods will not function. The Imperial Guard will mutiny when they do not receive their pay. These things, and others much worse will all occur!
We have been approached by a new and powerful alien race, who claim they have knowledge of what they call "The Dark Millenium Bug" and how to repair it. They call themselves "The consultants" and demand we pay exhorbant fees and scurry about like frightened rats or they shall not help us. The adeptus mechanicus informs me that they can solve the problem in a mere six hundred ninety years, and do not need the help of these so-called "Consultants." However, it is my opinion, my lord, that the adeptus mechanicus have no idea how to fix this horrible problem, and are merely afraid they will all be replaced by consultants.
In addition, impossible as it seems, we suspect Tyranid involvement in this so-called "Dark Millenium Bug".
I fear dark times are upon us my lord, and we must act quickly.
