Orky 'Istory Bitz: Da' Genrul began his life as storm-boy Oggthrok on
an insignificant planet in an insignificant ork-held system in the galactic
west. Sepperated by warp storms from human space the Blood-axes that
Oggthrok grew up with were far more primitive and savage than those
typically encountered, almost indistinguishable from the other clanz. That all came to an end when the warp storms abated. Imperial conquest fleets arrived, and mankinds attempts to retake their long lost worlds began. For Oggthrok, this would be a fateful moment. As is typical for the Imperium part of the conquest plan included stirring up unrest among the local alien population. As this was an ork held system the task proved very easy. Oggthrok happened to be one of the first orks that the Imperium managed to establish a dialouge with, (IE: he did not begin to shoot at them upon first sight) and was thrilled by the idea of being given free weapons and tanks and power so that he could wage war on his hated rivals the Deathskulls. The Imperium assigned the ork warboss a code name, so that he could be included in progress reports without causing alarm. Distorting his natural ork name, they refered to him as "General Odd Thoughts". Though it was just a matter of convenience to the humans, Oggthrok saw the name as his new title of rulership. From then on, he would call himself "Genrul' Oddthotz". For well over two decades the Genrul waged a bloody war across the three ork held worlds in his home system. He grew to actually like and respect the humans, learning to speak crude gothic and adopting their formal salutes and marching patterns. The humans rewarded him with larger weapons and greater support, letting him wittle down the ork population more with each passing year. Things couldn't get better for Oddthotz. It was arround that time that a new fleet of ships passed through the system of worlds now known as 'Da' Genruls Worldz'. These were the advance vessels of the ork Warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka. Thraka was leading a massive Waaaaagh, and he was cleaving a path through ork space in the process, collecting up entire worlds of orks to join him. Thraka's forces
destroyed the conquest fleet, and welcomed Oddthotz to join them. Da' Genrul
was not pleased at all, he had trusted the humans and loosing them meant
loosing his meal-ticket. Still, even he could feel the call of the Waaaagh,
and within that same year Oddthotz and his army found themselves traveling
the galaxy with Thraka and his followers.Fate delivered the waaaagh to a huge human world called Armageddon. There Genrul' Oddthotz fought under the direct command of the mighty profit of the Waaaaagh, abandoning his human loyalties and slaughtering the "pinkies" by the thousands. Thraka took a small interest in the Blood-Axe, both using his knowledge of human language and military tactics to his advantage. All the while, the profit advised him to let go of his "hoomie-loving" ways. Oddthotz looked up to Thraka like a god and he fought like a demon for him, and when in the profits presense he would hide his commisar hat. Of course, Thraka lost. Most of the Waaaagh was destroyed and the survivors scattered to the wind. Suddenly Oddthotz saw it all too clearly: Thraka was a fool. He'd always been a fool, because he thought that the humans were weak and stupid. On the other hand, Oddthotz no longer liked the humans either. They were all his sworn enemies now. The Bloodaxes under Oddthotz command had used salvaged human ships to travel to Armageddon, and as a result were able to escape intact and returned to the warp. Da' Genrul had a new plan, he would lead his own Waaaagh with what was left of his troops. He'd use all his cunnin' and all his know'wotz to conquer the first world they came across, and he would prove once and for all that he was smarter than the Profit. Ooman'z Notes: Da' Genrul was my attempt to create a Blood Axe warboss who wasn't just a hoomie-stoolie. He's alot of fun to play because he's the only ork I know who actually has angst. (Well, as close as an ork can get to angst) He usually hides back with his retinue and rattles off big-shooter fire, a massive waste of points but entirely in character of Da' Genrul. Oddly enough though Thraka was right, he really is a ded' ard' ork and is a match for any warboss out there when he pulls out his choppa' and leaves the long range gunz at home. Equipment: Da' Genrul is never seen on the field without his trusty Big-shoota and Commissar hat. (He still equates the hat with authority, the Imperium would be delighted to know how effective the appearance of a Commissar is) He also wears a long black coat made up out of several commissars coats, with ragged steel plates sewn inside to protect his gutty-wutz. (Eavy Armour) Cost: 80 points, wiv' out his usual retinue of drinking buddies and mega-armoured "bodyguards" |
